New OK Go music video for "This Too Shall Pass" (VIDEO)

What'll these guys think of next? Fingers crossed for giant robot dancing. Or maybe synchronized skydiving...So if you thought treadmill choreography was fun, just wait until you see this! I don't care if you're not an OK Go fan. I don't care if you're not an indie music fan. Hell, you can mute the video if you want, although I wouldn't advise it (that's actually how I watched the video the first time since I was at work). Regardless, check out this video. Picture the old board game Mouse Trap... times a hundred bajillion.

I'm going to go ahead and preemptively answer some of the questions you will likely have about the video while not revealing too much of its contents. Yes, it is a one shot sequence. Yes, the members of OK Go had help. Caltech scientists, MIT Media Lab, plus about 55 to 60 people from Syyn Labs (including some folks who worked on the NASA Mars Exploration Rover program) helped the band design and build the contraption. The video took about 60 takes for the machine to function properly with it taking 30 people up to an hour to reset it. It took 6 months, from concept to finish, to complete the video (two months of planning plus four months of design and filming). Get excited. Science rocks. Enjoy!

Thanks go to my co-worker Phil for the heads up on this one!

Chris, thanks for sharing! Great blog, song and the concept of the music video brings me back to projects in elementary school.

Hey, your posts have inspired me! - I love the way you directly get to the point, and then work outwards. I’ve been trying to do figure out what I want to say about ,that would allow me to do exactly the same thing.
