Yeeeaah!! Get excited!So, you may be wondering, "What is Stereo Blastin' or Stereo Blast0rz or whatever the hell you call the music and album art on the left sidebar?" Well, Stereo Blastin' (the final name... maybe) is the name of a little game I came up with for this site. It plays off the old English wedding tradition of the bride wearing "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue" (I'm purposefully leaving out the sixpence). Overall, I think Stereo Blastin' could be a fun, interactive way to share music. Here's how it works!

About every week, I'm going to list 3 albums and post 3 songs that I've been listening to recently. However, 1 album and 1 song is decided by you, the reader! Here are the categories:

Something OLD: An album + 1 song from that album that's about 15 years old or older. Who doesn't like a little nostalgia? Just so you know, I may make an exception for Acrobatic Tenement. You've been warned.

Something NEW: An album + 1 song that's a year old or less. Looking for a new, hot music find? Perhaps a hidden gem you may have missed over the last year? Well, look no further! Well, maybe a little further. At least to the next category.

Something BORROWED: Here's where you come in. This is an album + 1 song from that album suggested by you! The album + song can't be over 2 years old. That gives you a little wiggle room compared to Something NEW, but hopefully the find will still be fresh. Try for something a little out-of-the-way. Beyoncé and John Mayer are talented artists, but their new hot track probably won't benefit readers as much as something more obscure. Just send us a message at Contact Us with the artist's name, their album title and the name of one song that you just can't get out of your head. You know, one of those songs you want to blast through your dorm hall or neighborhood for all to hear. The song can be from any genre as long as it's something you're genuinely excited about. My buddy Ford was brave enough to get us started. Please include at least your first name in the message, preferably your first name and the first letter of your last name (ex: FordK). If you want, I can tag your Facebook profile from the Ant.Lion fan page when I announce a new round of the game. I'll pick one submission per week and try my best to hunt down the track to post on Ant.Lion! 

Something BLUES: Admittedly, I don't listen to as much blues as I should. So, in order to rectify this atrocity, I'm going to post something bluesy every week to help me integrate more blues into my life. Maybe it'll help you bring more blues into yours as well. Yay! Blues for everybody!

Well, those are the rules. Simple enough. I hope you enjoy listening to the tracks and I hope you find some new music to like. Let us know if you find a song/artist through this game that you really start liking. We love feedback! If this whole thing doesn't catch on, I guess Stereo Blastin' can mingle with other cruise vacationers on the FAILboat. Maybe we can eventually get enough participation to one day have readers submit songs for all the categories. Or maybe a local band can host Stereo Blastin' for a week and put up their picks! Baby steps...
