A7X drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan found dead

RIP RevAvenged Sevenfold drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan was found dead in his Huntington Beach home Monday. According to Orange County authorities, Sullivan, 28, was discovered "unresponsive" at 11 a.m. "The cause of death is still under investigation," Deputy Coroner Mitchell Sigal said. "An autopsy has been scheduled."

A7X released the following statement on their website Monday night:

"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world’s best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy’s family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time. Jimmy you are forever in our hearts. We love you."

The Rev cofounded the band in 1999 with M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, and Matt Wendt. He provided backing vocals along with his beastly, hardcore drumming.

Regardless of what you think of A7X, The Rev was an extremely talented drummer that could trade chops with the best of them. He'll be greatly missed.

RIP Rev
