About Ant.Lion

Apart from the pesky creatures in Half Life, the song by Dance Gavin Dance, and the actual insect whose hunting methods bear resemblance to the Sarlacc from Return of the Jedi, Ant.Lion serves as an outlet for us to share music finds, political opinions, or anything else that's timely, relevant and entertaining.

This site is more than just an entertainment blog. It's founded on a concept, which happens to be the title itself. So, what is Ant.Lion?

ant.lion [ant lahy-uh n]

- noun

1. a person of seemingly small influence whose impact is that of someone powerful

Pretty simple. An ant.lion can affect the world for better or for worse, but the impact itself must be profound. This site serves as a stage for the little guy who does something exceptional and a barbecue spit for detriments to society. Between the blogosphere, cable news, and YouTube, there's never been a time when a single individual can wield so much power. Ant.Lion serves as a check on that power as well as a check on those who seek to deny that power.

About the Writers

Chris Jr. aka "Killah Tophu"
http://twitter.com/killahtophu

Chris is the editor at Ant.Lion and writes in the politics, music, and opinion columns. He was born and raised in Oklahoma City and currently resides in Norman, OK. He realizes that he lives in arguably the most conservative state in the union and channels his political energy through Ant.Lion instead of lashing out irrationally. He holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma, which he painstakingly pried from the cold, soulless hands of the perpetually inept OU records office. Chris often spends his free time listening to music, playing drums, and yelling at the idiots on cable news.

Favorite food: It's a fistfight between sushi and pho

Favorite talking head: Jack Cafferty. I swear he'd be the most ridiculous grandpa ever!

Favorite band/musician that nobody's heard of: Jason Anderson; he has a folksy sound and can be energetic or contemplative depending on the song. If I ever come into money the first thing I'd do is pay for his flight here and book him at the Opolis.

Nathan Hardy

Nathan is a political columnist and contributor for Ant.Lion and holds a B.A. in Letters (Humanities & Classics) from the University of Oklahoma. Though born and raised in the Sooner State, he currently resides in Houston where he works for a non-profit that specializes in providing free mediation services to the public. A lifelong politico, Nathan has always sought a platform from which to voice his convictions. During last year’s presidential election, he served as a Regional Coordinator for the Obama campaign during the Oklahoma and Texas Democratic Primaries. In his spare time, Nathan enjoys listening to music, writing, singing, playing guitar and piano, getting outdoors and of course, discussing politics.

Favorite Food: Mediterannean

Favorite Bush-ism: "Childrens do learn..." (Oh, does they?)

Favorite Talking Head: Chris Matthews. While I have many favorites, I think Matthews provides the greatest insight, analysis and objectivity.
